This Audit Senior role offers responsibility for managing external audit engagements across a diverse client portfolio including owner-managed businesses, UK subsidiaries of international groups and companies operating in a range of sectors. Alongside technical audit work, the role provides the opportunity to supervise junior team members and contribute to the delivery of high-quality audit engagements.
The Guildford office location is commutable from Woking, Farnham, Godalming, Aldershot and surrounding Surrey locations, making this a convenient opportunity for audit professionals across the wider South East region.
The Audit Senior Role
As Audit Senior, you will lead audit assignments from planning through to completion while supporting the development of junior members of the audit team.
Working alongside experienced Managers and Partners, you will play an important role in delivering technically robust audit work while maintaining strong client relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading external audit engagements from planning through to completion
- Preparing and reviewing statutory financial statements
- Assessing audit risk and identifying key areas of focus
- Supervising and mentoring junior members of the audit team
- Reviewing internal controls and recommending improvements
- Supporting group audit assignments and component reporting where required
- Managing client communication throughout the audit process
- Ensuring assignments are delivered within agreed timelines and budgets
This role offers exposure to technically interesting audit work and would suit someone looking to continue developing within a strong audit environment.
About You
You will be ACA or ACCA qualified and currently working within an external audit role in a UK accountancy practice.Suitable candidates will typically demonstrate:
- Experience leading external audit assignments
- Strong knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standards
- Experience supervising or supporting junior team members
- Confidence communicating directly with clients
- The ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
Experience working on group audits or international reporting structures would be advantageous but is not essential.
