Join a highly regarded boutique accountancy and advisory practice with a strong international presence and a reputation for delivering consultancy-led solutions. This six-partner firm is located within walking distance of London Waterloo and offers an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Senior Audit RI Manager or RI Director seeking a clear and supported route to Partner.
You will play a pivotal role in leading the audit function, managing high-quality engagements, developing people, and contributing to the strategic growth of the firm.
The Role
As Senior Audit RI Director Partner Designate, you will work closely with the Audit Partner and leadership team to shape the future of the audit practice. This is a hands-on leadership role offering genuine autonomy, strategic influence, and a transparent progression pathway to Partner.
You will take ownership of a diverse audit portfolio, lead and develop a high-performing team, and act as a trusted adviser to clients across a range of sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Audit Leadership & Technical Excellence
- Lead and review audit engagements from planning through to completion.
- Review financial statements and provide high-level technical guidance.
- Ensure audit quality, compliance, and timely delivery across the portfolio.
- Handle complex technical audit and accounting matters, including judgments and estimates.
- Stay current with UK auditing standards, legislation, and regulatory developments.
Client Management
- Act as lead audit partner/RI on a portfolio of SME and group audits.
- Build and maintain long-term, trusted client relationships.
- Support partners with audit input for proposals, tenders, and new engagements.
- Begin developing your own client portfolio with Partner-level support.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop audit managers, seniors, and trainees.
- Review audit files at key stages and provide constructive feedback.
- Support recruitment, training, and performance appraisals.
- Oversee UK-based and offshore accounts outsourcing resources.
- Foster a culture of quality, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Practice Growth & Business Development
- Work collaboratively with the six partners to shape the audit strategy.
- Identify opportunities to grow and enhance the audit and assurance offering.
- Contribute to cross-selling with tax, accounts, and advisory teams.
- Assist with audit policies, pricing, and fee proposals.
- Manage WIP, billing, recoveries, and deadlines.
- Participate in marketing, thought leadership, seminars, and publications.
- Support firm-wide growth with the aim of increasing your client portfolio year on year.
About You
- ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
- RI status held or eligible to obtain within six months.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standards.
- Proven experience signing audit opinions within an SME or mid-tier practice.
- Background in an independent or boutique firm (1–3 partner environment preferred).
- Demonstrated experience managing, reviewing, and developing audit teams.
- Excellent communication skills with a track record of senior-level client relationship management.
